One Match, One Moment, One Promo:

December 15, 2025

ree

Welcome back, my three loyal readers! And thank you for tuning in, if this is your first time joining along for my recap blogs.

I had a bit of time off from OMOMOP while I adjusted to a new work schedule and tried to figure out how to get through some writer’s block. I’m back weekly as of right now, and the blog has found a new home on the Main Event site. The Blog World Order, and network overall, is a great support system and moving my blog away from my own site helps support everyone.

If you’re unfamiliar with the format, I choose my favorite match, moment and promo from the previous week in WWE. Going forward, the blogs will cover Friday-Monday and include only SmackDown and Raw. I’ll also share my thoughts on any PLE’s that take place, but they’ll be ineligible for the proper categories.

And as usual, here’s a little recap of the news behind the curtain:

  • Mick Foley is distancing himself from WWE. He said he would no longer make appearances while Trump is in office, and that he will not renew his legends contract when it comes up. I don’t have his strength to leave WWE behind, and I’m just a fan. But the fed does its best to try and distance us with their political alignments.

  • JD McDonagh is out again after surgery. Judgment Day may never properly conclude its narrative since the members can’t all stay healthy at once.

  • To no one’s surprise, John Cena may have retired from in-ring performance, but he isn’t done with WWE. He’s already got his legends contract lined up and they’re expecting him to be around on air and behind-the-scenes.

Now let’s get into the good stuff.

One Match

I don’t know how anyone would pick a match other than The Usos vs. The New Day.

I’m genuinely unsure how Jey feels being back in the tag division, but you have to admit he is better when he’s paired with his brother. Immediately getting them into a program with The New Day worked perfectly. The four had an incredible match that put the men’s tag division back on the map.

One Moment

Gunther rolling down his window to taunt AJ Styles was just so unexpected and funny.

Let’s be honest, the promo was pretty cheap heat. The crowd wasn’t going to do anything but boo Gunther, and he didn’t say much of anything. He doesn’t have to after making John Cena give up, but the “You can’t see me” taunt made me actually laugh out loud.

One Promo

CM Punk gave his best promo in quite a while. His promos had all sounded pretty repetitive and stale for a while, but Bron Breakker made the champ level up.

Punk went all in on Bron and his trash talk really made their upcoming match feel all the more important. CM Punk is making sure that no matter the outcome, Bron Breakker looks like a legitimate threat and future star.

Honorable Mentions

Raw absolutely dominated this week’s shows. SmackDown has felt pretty dull for a while, if I’m being honest. I had high hopes for The Terror Twins vs. Black and Vega, but the match had some rough botches that it couldn’t recover from.

  • Ilja Dragunov and Tomasso Ciampa had a great match to start SmackDown, and it was my early pick for match of the week before the tag match on Raw.

  • Carmelo Hayes coming to the aid of Ilja Dragunov could have been my moment for the week. Hayes is one of my favorite talents on the roster and I need him getting bigger spots regularly.

  • Raquel Rodriguez. That’s it, that’s all. I just love her and she is in the spotlight she deserves. I love seeing her be dominant in the ring, and she should absolutely be the one to dethrone Stephanie Vaquer.

Saturday Night Main Event

I damn near called the SNME card perfectly, and it was a decent show overall. Sol Ruca and Bayley were my match of the night, and I continue to say that Sol Ruca is an incredible talent that will be on the main roster sooner rather than later.

I still don’t think Gunther needed or deserved Cena’s final match. I’ve said it in other blogs and I’ll say it again: Carmelo Hayes should have been his final opponent, and if not him, Dom should have had his Intercontinental Championship rematch to retire Cena.

Either young talent would have benefitted from the match in ways that Gunther won’t.
