(TGBH) Ay yo! What the fack is cracking yall! Do not rub your eyes too hardeth for they doesnteth deceive ye! This indeed an AEW predictions blog. That’s right, it’s finally happened, the bWo is stepping through…..the Forbidden Door. With Ian G being our expert for Warrior Wrestling and AEW, we just had to take advantage of his expertise. Before he joined we had plans to some day incorporate AEW events into our rotation and the time has finally come. I am ecstatic for this.

(PCM) Oh, you thought we were done? Remember when we said no tribalism here? Here it is, we cover AEW now. No matter the letters, good wrestling is good wrestling.

(DSS) I’ve been waiting for this moment. I’ve been watching AEW regularly for about a year now, and keeping up through social media clips even longer. I watch a tiny bit of New Japan, as well, so I’m not completely unfamiliar with that side of things. I knew the bWo would tackle this eventually, and now it’s our time to shine. It’s finally time we truly conquered all the major promotions. What a week for us bWo boys predicting it all.

(IG) It’s that time of the year again where Mr. Sicko himself, Tony Khan, gets to have some fun with fantasy booking his insanely talented in-ring performers.  If you’re looking for some insanely good wrestling and not necessarily concerned for a good story going into the match, I HIGHLY recommend you fork up the dollar bills to watch tonight’s Forbidden Door on HBO (10$ off on HBO btw).  But let’s get into it y’all!!

PreGame w/bWo:

AEW Forbidden Door

Kevin Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

(IG) We are starting off HOT y’all.  You stick two of the most technically gifted wrestlers into the ring together, you are going to get a masterpiece of a match.  Add in Kenny’s retirement tour of sorts to the mix, you have yourself a must-see match.  Somehow these two have only locked horns once before in NJPW.  I have a good feeling we are going to be looking back at this match years from now as a “I need to watch that one again” type of match.  And all it took was two weeks of run-ins to get excited for this one.  I understand that it makes sense for Omega to lose this one, as that is the “norm” for a retirement tour, putting others over on your way out, but I need to see him go after MJF sooner than later.  Give me the man who once flew over NORRRRRTH CAROLIIIINA.

Ian G’s Pick:

Kenny Omega via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Zack Sabre Jr.

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Kendrick Omega via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Zack Sabre Jr. via Pinfall

AEW Women’s World Championship

Thekla(c) vs. Starlight Kid

(TGBH) I see alot of negative talk about Thekla from the AEdub fanbase. I dont get it. Not the entire fanbase obviously, but there’s that one ugly corner of the room where all the naysayers are gathered and just dont know how to appreciate anything. Starlight Kid is a fun watch, not familiar with her work but I have enjoyed what I’ve come across in the building to this match. Thekla’s situation with AEdub appears to be one where she’ll be there a while, may as well establish her with a nice lengthy reign.

(DSS) Thekla is absolutely one of the best women that AEW has. Not the best, but one of them. On the other hand, Starlight Kid is one of the best there is in the world. This match is about more than just the title. Thekla has trash talked all of Stardom and Starlight Kid is coming to defend her entire brand. The thing is, Starlight Kid absolutely should win this match, but AEW isn’t going to benefit another company that much. Starlight Kid will get a lot of new eyes on her from people that aren’t familiar with her, but Thekla is retaining and knocking Stardom down a peg. Thekla is definitely a fresh face in the women’s main event scene, and while I would love to see Starlight Kid walk out champion, I just don’t see it as possible.

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Thekla via Pinfall

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Thekla via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Thekla via Pinfall

Ian G’s Pick:

Thekla via Submission

Sky Team vs. Young Bucks vs. Unbound Co.

(TGBH) Tag Team Turmoil at it's finest here. We got three great teams that'll go leaps and (un)bounds to put on a classic. The Young Bucks have been the underground favorite when it comes to tag teams that never joined the fed. Matches like these are the type of matches The Young Bucks should be winning and most certainly willl. Still crazy to me that now that Mistico in AEW people are saying he's one of the best to ever to do it, cause they weren't saying that before. I'd put my only betting dollar on the Bucks here, and i aint talking milwaukee

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Young Bucks via Pinfall

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Unbound Co via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Young Bucks via Pinfall

Ian G’s Pick:

Young Bucks via Pinfall

Steel Cage Match

Team Don Callis MJ Family vs. Team Briscoe

(DSS) This match is absolutely just a way to have a championship match without actually having a championship match. Some of my absolute favorite AEW talents are in this match in MJF and Orange Cassidy, and it’s going to be a hellish scene in the cage. Takeshita and the Don Callis family have so much between them, MJF, Mark Briscoe and Darby are all World Champion level talents…and that’s not even mentioning the fact that Darby is going to do his best to kill himself in the cage. I’m already dreading having to see Don Callis’s face as he comes out to jump on commentary and glaze his stable, but the match itself is going to be incredible. Mark Briscoe’s side is taking the win in this one to give more momentum to a showdown with MJF for the title.

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Briscoe and Co

Ian G’s Pick:

MJF and DCF

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Team Don Callis MJ Family

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Conglomeration

IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship

Shota Umino(c) vs. PAC

(PCM) This is an interesting match-up. While PAC can still fly with the best, he is not nearly as airborne as he used to be. Shota has been pegged as one of the new generation of NJPW. I think the clash of styles could work here. Look for this to be a sleeper match.

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Shota Umino via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Shota Umino via pinfall

Ian G’s Pick:

PAC via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

PAC via Pinfall

AEW Continental Championship

Jon Moxley(c) vs. Bandido

(DSS) Moxley has already been champion longer than I wanted. Don’t get me wrong, Bubba Ray is an idiot for saying the Death Riders don’t bring anything to the table, but I’m ready to see a new champion. Unfortunately for Bandido, it’s not happening at Forbidden Door. Bandido could absolutely get Mox off balance and sneak out a win, but Moxley is more resilient than Bandido will prepare for. Mox might usually thrive in a death match environment, but he’s also perfectly content in the Continental ruleset. He only has to survive 20 minutes, and the pressure of the time limit could make Bandido slip up and make mistakes—which Moxley always looks to punish. Look for Bandido’s mistakes to lead to Moxley getting a clean win to keep his title.

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Moxley via Pinfall

Ian G’s Pick:

Moxley via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Bandido via Pinfall

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Mox via Pinfall

AEW World Tag Team Championship

Cage and Cope(c) vs. The Dogs

(IG) I absolutely love that this match is happening.  Every single week I become more and more of a fan of the Dogs.  When they first came over to AEW I was a bit concerned for them; where would they fit in, what good do they do for the company, yada yada… But since they have started this feud, I get it.  They are hella entertaining, sorta Edge and Christian-esque.  Which makes sense why they are here.  My only issue with them so far is that the Dogs just get their butts kicked every week, so I have zero hope that they sniff a win here.  Hopefully this match leads to a stronger push for them, and I can look back as this match helping their build, instead of holding it back.

Ian G’s Pick:

Cage and Cope via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Cage and Cope via Pinfall

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Cage and Cope via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Cage and Cope via Pinfall

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship

Divine Dominion(c) vs. Thunder Rosa and Olympia

(PCM) Sadly, this match is a forgone conclusion. Don’t get me wrong, nice to see a title match on PPV, as I have a deep hatred for title matches on preshow. But there is no way the titles change hands.

(DSS) Divine Dominion is one of my favorite tag teams in any promotion. Not women’s tag teams, but tag teams period. I love both Megan Bayne and Lena Kross, and they looks so physically dominant that it’s hard to imagine any team besting them. Thunder Rosa and Olympia should be a team that you would think could do some real damage, but they feel more thrown together than they feel like a proper team. It’s going to make for a fun match and give the show card a bit more flair, but there’s no way Bayne and Kross aren’t standing (so very) tall at the end of it.

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Divine Dominion via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Divine Dominion via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Divine Dominion via Pinfall

Ian G’s Pick:

Divine Dominion via Pinfall

Owen Hart Men’s Tournament Final

Swerve Strickland vs. Will Osprey

(IG) TK does an excellent job with Forbidden Door every year for two reasons; awesome fantasy matchups with partnered promotions and the amazing Owen Cup final matchups.  I am SO excited for this match.  They have gone every week talking to the audience about Will getting to All In for that world title.  The more they talk about it, the more skeptical I have become of that actually happening.  For me, I want to see them throw a wrench in Ospreays plans.  As one might say, I wanna see a Swerve in those plans.  Let Will go back to the Deathriders and truely unleash that heel side in him.

Ian G’s Pick:

Swerve Strickland via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Swerve Strickland via Pinfall

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Will Osprey via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Will Ospreay via pinfall

Owen Hart Women’s Tournament Final

Mercedes Moné vs. Maya World

(TGBH) Sure Moné's belt collection run has done some good for those brands, the fact of the matter remains that's one of AEW's biggest stars. AEdub has a chance to make a new star here, but I get the feeling they're gonna play it safe. Promotions have started to lean towards making moments and pushing accolades, and a back to back, two time Owen Hart Women's Champ is one of those opportunities they wont pass on. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Moné is in the tournament Finals next year too.

(PCM) It seems we will have our first repeat champion here. Maya has one of the most inspiring stories going into this, and she should be applauded for going as far as she has with all the strife she is enduring. However, I do not see Mercedes losing and would love to see where it goes from here

(DSS) As much as I hate to admit it (because I love to hate), Mercedes Moné has to win here. I might not be the biggest fan, but I have to admit she brings too much to the table to not get her shot at the AEW Women's World Championship. She spent a lot of time collecting belts, and then she used herself to put women’s wrestling over all across the world. Moné lost a lot quickly, and now she’s back and building herself back up to go at the title she hasn’t won: Thekla’s World Championship. Maya World is just another stepping stone.

(IG) I won’t lie, I’m a little disappointed with this match.  Not because I hate Maya World, I think she’s awesome and has so much potential for the AEW roster.  My issue is that we had the chance for Athena, YET AGAIN, and we don’t get to see her go for the AEW Women’s title.  I get it, Maya’s story up to the finals is the perfect story.  But you cannot convince me having Maya win this match to go for the AEW title at All In would be a good decision, especially over Mercedes.  I’m sorry, but it doesn’t make sense by any means.  I hope I’m wrong and they can make something magical out of the outcome of this match.  But, in my opinion, they screwed the pooch with this side of the tournament.

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Mercedes Moné via Submission

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Mercedes via Pinfall

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Mercedes Moné via Pinfall

Ian G’s Pick:

Mercedes Moné via Submission
