(TGBH) Waddup world wide webernators! Welcome to this place in time where we have the luxury of witnessing John Cena’s retirement and 16 men duke it out for a chance at everlasting glory. Whilst I am not content with the lack of NXT talent in this bracket, I don’t think there are other names that would have fit well in this tournament the way the first round went. Not everyone can win here obviously, and all the right names are moving on. This second round has shaped up quite nicely and will make for great mainstream television this week as we ride into San Diego for WAR GAMES!! Oh yeah, and we finally have a bracket!!

ree

(PCM) Well, I picked a few and missed a few. Like a nose full of boogers. Not a bad first round overall. Whether the final match is for the IC title remains to be seen until after Survivor Series. Both the first round mystery opponents were awesome to see, and glad they got some shine on TV; well deserved to both. Now that we've got the first round out of the way, we've got some bangers coming up, even without Sheamus.

(DSS) This tournament has been killing me. I honestly haven’t kept a tally of my results, but it feels like I keep picking the opposite of what actually happens. Let me be clear: I’m picking the correct winners and WWE has been booking them wrong. Looking at the list of competitors, there’s only one person I see who deserves to be in the ring with Cena at the end, and only one person who would actually benefit from it.

(TGBH) Round 2 kicks off tonight, so it’s only right that we hit you with another predictions blog. Let’s get to it yall!!

Pre-Game w/bWo:

The Last Time is Now Tournament

Round 2

Jey Uso vs. Rusev

ree

(PCM)  Half of this I was wrong on. But I do not see myself being wrong this time. One thing missing on the main roster is the monster heel. The kind that when their music hits, you say ‘Oh shit’. We got that some with the return of Gunther ( more on that later). We could have another one with Rusev.  We are seeing some glimpses since his return. I am getting some of his initial run when he first debuted, or as I like to call it,” The Tank Era”. Let him have this. Of course, Jey is gonna give him a hell of a fight, but I want to see Rusev smash.

(DSS) I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I just don’t care about Rusev. He doesn’t move me when I watch him in the ring, and I don’t care for his character. With that said, he better go over on Jey. Main Event Jey Uso shouldn’t have moved forward in the tournament, and Rusev would be more interesting moving on in the tournament.

(TGBH) With a career spanning what feels like two decades, Jey Uso has still managed to avoid a one on one match with John Cena. Will the time be now? Maybe. Alot of names in this tournament I feel were safe picks for great television, Jey being one of them Jey’s got some War Games stuff going on, and if the third round matches are to occur on or after War Games would make it easier to pick a winner here. With War Games being this wekeend, I just dont see The Vision NOT getting involved. Jey Uso would be a fun last opponent for Cena, but I think the internet would implode if it were to happen, and you dont want the internet in a ruckus for Cena’s last match. Jey Uso takes a loss here to get him fully focused for War Games and Rusev moves on to the Semis.

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Rusev via Submission

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

Rusev via pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Rusev via Pinfall

LA Knight vs. Mystery Opponent (The Miz?)

ree

(DSS) Rumor has it The Miz is getting a second chance in the tournament, and when have the rumors been wrong? I’d still love for him to go forward, and maybe that could set up a Miz-Melo match in the tournament. I’m doubtful on that last part, but a guy can dream. Knight needs to go back to the mid-card scene, or maybe go back to his Max Dupri persona. Knockoff Stone Cold Dwayne Johnson just doesn’t do it for me.

(TGBH) To bounce off what Shady said, Max Dupri was too much of a character for LA Knight to portray. If people really loved the guy like they say they do, they’d support him no matter what. Imagine how much fun Maximum Male Models would have been with Max Dupri making some real waves. Throw Tyler Breeze or Pretty Deadly in the mix and that would have been a fun stable that made a hell of a fashion statement. But anyway, The Miz is the rumored replacement, but im banking on a real surprise. Gimme Santos Escobar.

(PCM) If the rumors are true, this one will be the sleeper match. The scuttlebutt is that it is The Miz. I would love for it to be. Not just because I have been a fan of the Miz since his ECW days, but a feud with him and Knight would be magic. I am salivating just at the thought of the promos alone. I assume we are getting Miz/Melo first, but to have this waiting in the wings would be amazing.  In picking a winner, let’s go with The Miz in a fun match.

Darkstar Shady’s Pick:

The Miz via Pinfall

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Mystery Opponent via Pinfall

The Miz via Pinfall

Penta vs. Solo Sikoa

ree

(TGBH) The Lucha Bros are back, and with AAA selling out house shows on a regular basis, Penta may get involved some more just to further boost sales and prices. AAA is on fire and someone like Penta joining the ranks of stars like Dirty Dom and Natalya will bring more prestige to an already lustrous and sacred brand. Solo Sikoa needs something to remain an intimidating threat on the blue brand. Sure he wont win the tournament, but advancing to the finals has to happen considering he is the only one left in this tournament to own a clean pin over Cena in the last 5 years.

(PCM) Sorry, this is a no-go for Solo. The transformation he has had since breaking off from Roman has been fun as hell, crappy stable name notwithstanding. Hard for me to be against mi hermano, Penta. Once again, this is another matchup that could exceed expectations. Will we see some shenanigans from Solo’s brethren, most likely. But even with all that, I got Penta getting the dub.

(DSS) I hate to say it, but Solo may walk out this one the winner. Solo has more to lose by taking a loss than Penta does. Penta is mixing it up in AAA now, and he doesn’t need the John Cena retirement rub to get over. There’s no story for him moving forward in the tournament, and Solo at least has some history with Cena.

The Great Brown Hope’s Pick:

Solo Sikoa via Pinfall

PaperClip Mike’s Pick:

Penta via Pinfall

Solo Sikoa via Pinfall

Gunther vs. Carmelo Hayes

ree

(PCM) Sorry, Melo. Social media has blown up with not only the return of Gunther, but him going back to the original theme., The one that makes grown men cry like the aftermath of a babality in a Mortal Kombat game. They are not letting him lose after a presentation like that. As always, I see one hell of a showing from Melo, but this time? Melo does miss.

(DSS) Melo may have caught a lucky break against Bronson Reed, but I want to see him move at a different level against Gunther. Carmelo definitely has something to prove, and he would be the perfect person to end up as the winner of the tournament, and get showcased in Cena’s retirement match. Gunther doesn’t need to become a retirement machine, and his World Title reigns were so much worse than his run as the Intercontinental Champion. Carmelo Hayes deserves a big push, and it would be a mistake for him to take a loss in this tournament. Melo vs. Miz in the final match of the tournament writes itself. The Future Hall of Famer vs. The Future of the WWE is the perfect match. If Cena actually does want to elevate the younger generation, rather than bury them, Melo must win.

(TGBH) I don’t know what yall are talking about. Melo doesn’t miss. And I really want an upset in this tournament. Hardly anyone is piclong Melo, but they want Melo. We want Melo. More Carmelo Hayes will be good for the blue brand and could surely be way more over than that one guy who claims to be from LA. I didn’t Melo to win last round, but if he can overcome Big Bad Bronson Reed, on paper this one is a given. Gunther has already been established as the longest reigning UK Heavyweight Champion and longest reigning Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, he sure as hell doesn’t need another ICHW reign, and he doesn’t need to retire Cena. Melo leaving this tournament and defeating Cena will do wonders for the guy and surely make up for lost time. And sometimes, it’s not that he loses, he just doesn’t win.
