Welcome to the first ever edition of my new article series, “It’s reel to me dammit”. My name is PaperclipMike, formally known here as Xander Invictus. I was one of the cohosts of the Dropkick and Attractions podcast, which is sadly which is sadly no longer being produced. But I will be here with this new blog.

So, what is the concept for IRTMD? I love wrestling and I love pop culture. The two have been intertwined for decades. I grew up as a TV kid. I watch as many movies as I can as an adult. Hell, I have 2 separate apps on my phone for movie theatres depending where I am at. Why not combine both loves?

Wrestlers have been on movies and tv shows and movies for decades. Sometimes they play themselves, sometimes as other characters. Sometimes it is a cameo, other times they are a recurring character, maybe even a main character. Other wrestling content creators have done a great job covering these occasionally, but I want to focus on it.

Here is the plan of how I plan on approaching IRTMD. I will be cover as many appearances as possible. Not just your Hulk Hogans and Roddy Pipers, I plan on covering anyone, no matter their space on the card. Hell, they don’t even have to have been on TV. I will pick shows and movies with indie wrestlers too. While I definitely will be talking about the show, this will not be a deep dive or review of the show. I want to talk about the appearance of the wrestler. I want to show how important that character is to the show and how the wrestler did acting. I have never been a fan of shitting on bad things, so no witch hunt here.

I already have the first movie in mind. Long time listeners of DNA know that we used to alternate between wrestling and pop culture episodes. The first movie we ever covered was the Hulk Hogan classic “Mr. Nanny”. I think it is a nice way to bridge the gap between DNA and IRTMD.

I look forward to sharing my love of this with you all. You can follow me on X, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, and YT for my other content, all under PaperclipMike.
