Shady's Spotlight: Candice LeRae

It’s no secret that I favor women’s wrestling.

It’s no secret that I’ve got my favorites I’m vocal about.

And it’s no secret that one of my absolute favorites is never truly featured.

How does a company have Candice LeRae on their roster and not want her in the ring?

Candice LeRae became a mainstay in the indies. Before she was The Poison Pixie, Candice LeRae was known for her toughness and resilience. She was a standout that did more than hold her own in intergender matches.

Yet on television, she’s had one singles match appearance this year—a joke of a match against Jordynne Grace. A match that revolved more around Johnny Gargano’s depression at ringside than it did anything she did against Grace.

She had a great run with the WWE Speed Championship, before the title was allowed to be flaunted on weekly television. Candice was then involved in the Speed Title tournament for a shot at the belt last year. Yeah, great, she wrestled a few house shows with NXT, including a TNA Knockout Championship shot. Other than that, she’s been stuck on the sidelines.

I get it, Candice is being transitioned into a producer role. She hasn’t had a win on the main roster since partnering with Liv Morgan and Nia Jax all the way back at the start of 2025.

And now instead of wrestling, she’s helping set up wins for the Motor City Machine Guns. She’s either doing so to help Johnny Gargano into a pseudo-faction, or just continue to put tension between Shelley and Sabin.

It’s not like she can’t still go. There was a nice throwback to the woman she used to be, when she was thrown off a ladder and through another when the men’s tag division needed another big spot.

WWE has been dealing with a lot of injuries, and both Raw and SmackDown have not just Women’s World Champions, but they have midcard titles as well. The names in those title pictures?

AJ Lee. Bayley. Becky Lynch. Giulia. Tiffany Stratton.

Only one of those names sounds like they should be regularly featured on that level. It’s absolutely wild to me that WWE gave more titles to feature the women’s roster and found a way to continue to feature just the top billed stars.

Candice LeRae would be fantastic as a mainstay in the midcard. At the very least, she would give anyone an incredible feud to elevate their status.

I don’t even need to see her win all of her matches, or even a majority of them. I just want to see Candice LeRae competing.

Instead she’s used as an accessory to other stars’ stories. It’s a shame, because she’s deserved better for a long time now.
