(Another...nother...other)
It's Valentine's Day.
Happy Valentine's Day to those that celebrate.
Now, this Valentine's Day, The Great Brown Hope is gonna give someone flowers that truly deserves them.
A hero.
A hero to few like myself, a hero to an entire nation, and a hero to an entire generation!
That hero, is the Modern Day Maharaja, Jinder Mahal
Rolling your eyes already? Typical.
But you know what, this storee isn't for you. And that's ok.
Jinder Mahal is one of the most underrated, underutilized, and underappreciated stars in this industry. From his early FCW beginnings, to his current run on the RAW brand, Jinder Mahal has always been a talent that helped others look bigger, badder, and better. But were they really?
From his debut, I have witnessed the Internet Wrestling Community pass judgment on Jinder Mahal because of his heritage and his culture. Sound familiar? I bet it does.
Jinder Mahal may not have been as big a star as they had expected him to be. And the fans are the only ones to blame. Why the fans you ask?
Remember what happened with Muhammad Hassan? Alexander Rusev before and during his US Title run?
I'll get the water boiling whilst you ponder that one.
Jinder Mahal made his debut for FCW in 2011 and wrestled for the developmental promotion until 2012 where he worked as an enhancement talent. Putting over the stars of tomorrow, Jinder Mahal only won 4 singles matches during his entire 2011-2012 tenure with FCW. But bigger thangs were on the horizon for a young Jinder that couldn't be hindered. Cause little did Jinder Mahal know, he was on his way up to the main roster.
Jinder Mahal made his first televised appearance on an episode of Smackdown, where he was introduced as a friend to Ranjin Singh and The Great Khali. And the rest, as The Great Brown Hope says, is historee.
After a few episodes of watching The Great Khali embarass himself on live airings of pre-recorded episodes of Smackdown, Jinder Mahal had seen enough. It was time for someone to slap some sense into a man who was once the most feared talent on the roster. But that's not what people saw, instead they chose to boo this man for not speaking English. Some even going as far as making asenine comments about his religious garments and attire.
From jobbing to the stars, to forming a comedic relief group with Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater that got over despite the powers that be not wanting it to be so.
But even in the face of adversity, Jinder Mahal prevailed.
Jinder Mahal was once released from the company. But he came back even stronger. There was this new and improved and monstrous Jinder Mahal. A man who had put in the work to build himself back up to return to being where he wanted to be. But did the fans see that? Did the fans see the dedication it takes to get to where he was? Did the fans see the countless hours and countless days spent retrofitting and restructuring his heart, mind, body, and soul?
Nah. They said he did steroids. Typical.
This New Jinder Mahal would go on to win the prestigious, most desired prize in the fed, the WWE Championship. Jinder Mahal was also the 50th WWE Champion crowned might I add.
Was it to amp up numbers in India? I dont think so. India was going to support Jinder Mahal no matter if he was champion or not. Jinder Mahal is a hero of his people nonetheless. Jinder Mahal is fighting for his people just like everyone else.
Jinder Mahal was even a former United States Heavyweight Champion!! Take those U-S-A chants and take em somewhere else. This isn't politics. This is wrestling.
But it wasnt until recent events that I was reminded of a time where similar events were influenced due to certain Americans having certain feelings towards certain people.
Before the January 1st episode of RAW, the Fed teased the return of a former World Champion. And what did the Internet Wrestling Community do? Turn it into a joke about Jinder Mahal.
Why? What was the reason?
To make matters worse, the Fed failed to acknowledge the greatness of the Modern Day Maharaja and instead decided to go along with it.
But what did Jinder Mahal do? He PREVAILED.
Exactly my point. FINALLY all of you are united on one thing. You people stood loud, and proud, and BOO'ED your OWN National Anthem in Punjabi.
Jinder Mahal proved exactly what I was talking about earlier in the storee. People BLINDLY boo'ed him because he simply spoke Punjabi. See what I'm saying?
Jinder Mahal cut one of the best promos I have ever seen or heard. If you think otherwise that's ok. Sometimes the bigger picture is clouded by the distractions they throw in front of you. In this case, no one wanted Jinder Mahal to look good here. No. They wanted to make a joke of him so The Rock can come down and sAvE tHe PeOpLe. Just listen to The Rock's promo, it doesnt make things any better. All it does is prove Jinder's point event further. That's one way to shoot yourself in the foot.
Mahal continued to make waves. Mahal confronted Seth Rollins for a title shot to the dismay of the Internet Wrestling Community. But what made Jinder Mahal SO undeserving of a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship? WHY doesn't Jinder Mahal get to finish HIS storee against Seth Rollins?
After putting on a solid match, in my opinion, against Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, I thought Jinder Mahal would continue to gain traction for a nice run at the Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship, even if he didn't win.
Jinder Mahal has been a loyal, dependent worker that has continued to persevere in a world of hate that is taught from birth. A proven, reliable talent that keeps being overlooked. But do we hear any bad press about him? Not that I can remember.
Without Jinder Mahal, there would be no Rollinsmania.
Whether you'd like to admit it, Jinder Mahal is a hero.
Jinder Mahal is the Hero America Hates.
I only came here to give Jinder Mahal his flowers. Dont forget to appreciate The Modern Day Maharaja.
