Welcome one, Welcome to your plus one, and Welcome all! I sure hope this finds you in the highest of spirits. We've had a hell of a new year in the wrestling world and everything's heating up the closer we get to the Royal Rumble PLE.
Welcome readers! Welcome haters and congratulaters to another installment of....
Santos Escobar has finally arrived.
Years of building a foundation for WWE's next big Mexican star has all led to today. But to really know a star you must also learn of said star's origins. What is our star's Storee? How did we end up here?
Jorge Luis Alcantar Bolly began his career in Mexico under the alias Top Secret. After three years as that character, he finally adopted his father's name, mask, and became El Hijo del Fantasma, The Son of The Phantom.
El Hijo Del Fantasma made his in-ring debut in IWRG alongside his father, Fantasma, and his cousin, Fantasma Jr., picking up a victory over Los Oficiales, Guardia, Oficial, and Vanguardia on December 14, 2003.
In 2008 El Hijo Del Fantasma would work a five year tenure with CMLL where he would show off(sit down Dolph Ziggler) his in ring technicianship as well as a great personality that was easy for fans to be attracted to his aura. El Hijo Del Fantasma held the CMLL World Trios Championships twice with La Mascara and Hector Garza, uncle of Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo (more on that later). He would also go on to hold the CMLL World Middleweight Championship until losing it to Negro Casas. He even competed in NJPW during this time as well! El Hijo Del Fantasma would leave CMLL, expressing, and making public, his frustrations with the higher ups and their blatant disregard to make an effort to keep him from leaving.
El Hijo Del Fantasma would eventually move on to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in 2013 making his debut at Heroes Inmortales VII where he lost in the finals of the Copa Antonio Peña against La Parka.
El Hijo Del Fantasma got his first taste of AAA gold, and they made it a double without the rocks. At TripleMania XII he would compete in a ten way elimination match against quite some heavy competition with the likes of Drago, Jack Evans, Joe Lider, Australian Suicide, Bengala, Pentagon Jr(yall know that guy for sure), Fenix(him too!) and Daga. Hijo Del Fantasma wins the match and unifies the AAA Fusion Championship with the AAA Cruiserweight Championship in the process thus creating the new AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
In 2017, El Hijo Del Fantasma would win the Copa Antonio Peña tournament and capture another AAA championship, the then vacant AAA Latin American Championship. He would then begin a feud with Texano Jr. And lemme tell ya, beefs get REAL in Lucha Libre. There is a tradition in Lucha Libre. The tradition of Lucha de Apuestas, a Wager Match, where hair or masks are put on the line. In 2018 El Hijo del Fantasma and Texano Jr. would wrestle in a Lucha de Apuestas match. Texano Jr. lost the match and therefore had his head shaved after the match. Not long after he would lose his mask against L.A. Park at TripleMania XXVI.
Whilst working with AAA, El Hijo Del Fantasma competed as King Cuerno in Lucha Underground and held the Gift of the Gods Championship.
El Hijo Del Fantasma also appeared in TNA at Slammiversary XV, Bound for Glory, and Redemption as a representative of AAA.
El Hijo Del Fantasma would go on to lose his AAA Latin American Championship to Drago. In March of 2019, El Hijo Del Fantasma would announce he was leaving AAA. Months later he would go on to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment, and the rest is historee.
Santos Escobar had been grinding for years and years defending the legacy of his and his father's masks. Defending the legacy that is Lucha Libre and the respect and honor that comes with it. The masks they wear are their identities. Their masks tell stories and legends of those that came before them, and stories that will be told to the ones that come after because Lucha Libre is about pride. All while earning his rightful place in the halls of Lucha Libre glory. The Latino Heat is burning again, this time the flames burn for a star decades in the making. A star that will represent and unite Latino fans and all fans alike in this new wave of Latino talent fighting to put their stamp in the record books. A star that will be looked up to as a hero, even if he portrays the villain.
Santos Escobar got next.
