Mi nombre es Raul Mendoza, y soy originario de Cordoba, Veracruz, Mexico.
My name is Raul Mendoza, and I am originally from Cordoba, Veracruz, Mexico.
Waddup yall! It's been a hell of a week in wrestling building up to Wrestlemania. But that's another storee for another day. Let me be the one to give yall a breather from all the madness and tell yall a Storee. Let's get to it yall!!
WELCOME TO....
Before Santos Escobar and Legado Del Fantasma, WWE had one VERY proud Luchador that took on the honor of marching into stadiums carrying the beautiful, elegant flag of Mexico. A Luchador that wanted to create his own legacy simply for the love of the sport and his country.
That Luchador is Raul Mendoza.
Raul Mendoza began his Lucha career at the young age of 15. Unlike other Luchadores around him and before him, Mendoza wasn't from a family of Luchadores. Still, Lucha corria en su sangre (Lucha flowed through his blood). Raul Mendoza was gonna have to grind. And grind he did.
Raul Mendoza would be initiated as Tribal but would ultimately become known as Jinzo. He worked his way in, out, and around the underground circuit, no shortcuts. Jinzo became a popular Luchador in due time working for promotions Desastre Total Ultraviolento - DTU, Perros del Mal - PdM, and the International Wrestling Revolution Group - IWRG. His style of lucha and high flying offense assisted in boosting his popularity over the years and eventually making his way to Lucha Libre Worldwide AAA.
Jinzo had made it. And Jinzo was just getting started.
Jinzo would make the trip overseas, taking his trademark style to Japan where he would compete for Pro Wrestling NOAH. It was in Japan where Jinzo would reach new heights of success whilst also honing his craft and combining his Lucha Libre style with Strong Style. More eyes were on Jinzo as he not only adapted but excelled and honed this new craft he was adjusting and perfecting..... on the fly. Jinzo was tearing it up against the likes of Hitoshi Kumano, Super Crazy, and Zack Sabre Jr., and people were starting to take notice. This guy could really go. And boy did he go.
As Raul Mendoza continued his journey, WWE was brewing up something special. WWE was setting up plans and contacting talent to put together a World Cup style tournament, The Cruiserweight Classic.
A tournament that featured the best Cruiserweights from all over the world, pitted against each other in a single elimination tournament. And do you know who was chosen to represent Mexixo? That's right, our boy Raul Mendoza. The Luchador that was fighting to honor his trade, now had the opportunity to fight for his country on the biggest stage of them all.
Once again, Raul Mendoza had made it.
Raul Mendoza would compete in the opening round of the Cruiserweight Classic against Brian Kendrick, in a losing effort.
Just like that, Raul Mendoza was eliminated.
BUT this isn't a sad Storee. THIS is a Storee of TRIUMPH.
Raul Mendoza wowed the powers that were in control of recruiting and signing new talent in their mission to bolster the roster. Raul Mendoza wasn't only recruited for this tournament, Raul Mendoza was being recruited to be signed to the WWE. Raul Mendoza had impressed said recruiters and earned himself a WWE contract. A WWE contract where he would get his chance to shine on NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live.
After years of battling to make a name himself in not only Lucha Libre but wrestling on a worldwide scale, Raul Mendoza was finally where he deserved to be. Where he was meant to be.
In a company that has spent years looking for Rey Mysterio's replacement, Raul Mendoza's mission is to make his own legacy. A legacy that he has stated was inspired by the late Eddie Guerrero. A legacy where he had once aspired to be the first Mexican NXT North American Champion. And in the midst of looking for Rey Mysterio's "successor", there lies in wait a star that Mexico already knows and adores.
RAUL MENDOZA HAS MADE IT
Raul Mendoza would find a home alongside Santos Escobar and Joaquin Wilde, like-minded individuals set out to proctect the sacred art of Lucha Libre.
And while Raul Mendoza may no longer be with Santos, sooner or later he has to come home. Raul Mendoza belongs with the people who understand and know his struggle in this sport. Raul Mendoza belongs with Legado del Fantasma. Raul Mendoza will soon see the light. Mendoza will see that in order for Raul Mendoza to be great, Raul Mendoza needs to be with his family.
