Look who decided to write a blog for once? Bet you didn't see this coming. Mr. OTM is in the house and it's time to wake up the toxic IWC. Wrestling has always been a source of excitement, drama, and pure entertainment. Yet lately, the online wrestling community or the "IWC" as some would say, seems to be overwhelmed by constant negative criticism and complaining. This negativity doesn’t just affect the mood of discussions; it chips away at the very fun and passion that wrestling is supposed to inspire. Wrestling is meant to be enjoyed, not dissected to death or used as a platform for endless complaints.
The Problem with Constant Negative Criticism
Wrestling fans are passionate, and passion can sometimes turn into frustration. When a storyline doesn’t go the way some expect, or a wrestler doesn’t get the spotlight they deserve, criticism is natural. But when that criticism turns into relentless complaining and tearing down others’ enjoyment, it becomes a problem.
Creates a toxic environment: Constant negativity drives away casual fans and newcomers who might otherwise enjoy wrestling. Just shut up for once.
Discourages content creators: Many creators who share their love for wrestling face harsh backlash, which can kill creativity and enthusiasm. I love creating content, but always fear that even the most positive videos will receive negative comments.
Overshadows the positives: Great matches, storylines, and moments get lost in the noise of complaints. These wrestlers sacrifice their body and time for the sake of our entertainment.
This negativity often comes from people who don’t fully understand the business or the effort behind the scenes. Wrestling is a complex mix of athleticism, storytelling, and entertainment. It’s not perfect, but it’s meant to be fun.
At its core, wrestling is entertainment. It combines athletic skill with storytelling to create moments that make fans cheer and sometimes even cry. No other entertainment medium has been able to invoke the emotions out of me quite like wrestling. When fans focus too much on flaws or perceived mistakes, they miss out on the magic.
Enjoy the ride: Wrestling is about the experience, the surprises, and the shared excitement with other fans.
Respect different tastes: Not everyone likes the same wrestlers or storylines. That’s okay. Just because you like a wrestler and someone else doesn't, doesn't mean we can't all get along.
Celebrate the effort: Wrestlers and creators work hard to put on shows that entertain millions.
Taking wrestling too seriously can ruin the fun. It’s fine to be critical sometimes, but it should never turn into a way to bring others down. If you don't like it, then stop watching. Simple as that.
The Role of Content Creators and Fans in Shaping the Community
Content creators have a big influence on how wrestling is discussed online. Unfortunately, some creators focus on negativity because it drives views and engagement. A tale as old as time. This creates a cycle where fans are encouraged to complain and criticize harshly to where it has become "the norm".
Support positive creators: Look for creators who celebrate wrestling’s fun and creativity.
Avoid negativity traps: Don’t engage with content that only aims to bring others down.
Build a supportive community: Share your excitement and encourage others to enjoy wrestling without harsh judgment.
The Main Event Wrestling Network is an example of a community focused on positivity and fun. Founded in 2023, it offers almost daily uploads and weekly blog content that celebrates wrestling. Our upcoming 24-hour marathon stream starts next Friday the 22nd at 8PM EST is a great chance to experience wrestling in a fresh, positive environment.
How Fans Can Change the Conversation
We hold the power to shift the tone of wrestling discussions. Here's some tips.
Focus on what you love: Share your favorite moments, wrestlers, and matches instead of complaining.
Be respectful: Understand that others have different opinions and tastes.
Encourage newcomers: Help new fans feel welcome instead of overwhelmed by negativity.
Call out toxic behavior: Politely challenge negativity when it appears, but avoid getting dragged into arguments. As Kit Wilson would say, you....are.....TOXIC!
By choosing to support positive voices and content, fans can create a more enjoyable space for everyone. I choose to support those who support me, always have, always will. It just so happens I CHOOSE to surround myself with positivity.

Bringing Wrestling Back to Its Roots
Wrestling has always been about entertainment, excitement, and community. When negativity takes over, it damages the experience for everyone. Fans and creators alike need to remember why they fell in love with wrestling in the first place.
Celebrate the good: Focus on the moments that make wrestling special. We all have vivid memories of moments that hooked us.
Respect the craft: Appreciate the hard work behind every match and storyline. It's not as easy as it looks, trust me. As someone who has stepped in the ring and had one "match" that shit is no joke.
Build a positive community: Support content and conversations that uplift rather than tear down.
